AN ORDINANCE appropriating $15,000.00 from the unappropriated surplus of the 2004 Grant Fund to cover the Hazardous Moving Violations grant received from the Missouri Department of Transportation - Office of Highway Safety, and authorizing the County Executive to execute an Agreement with the Missouri Department of Transportation - Office of Highway Safety, to implement this grant program at a cost to the County not to exceed $15,000.00.

Body
WHEREAS, the County has been awarded a grant in the amount of $30,000 by the Missouri Department of Transportation-Office of Highway Safety for its Hazardous Moving Violations program; and,
WHEREAS, authorization has been given by the Missouri Department of Transportation-Office of Highway Safety to disburse $15,000.00 of the grant monies at this time with the balance of $15,000.00 to be approved at a later date; and,
WHEREAS, Jackson County ranks 1st in the State of Missouri in alcohol related crashes and 2nd in overall crashes; and,
WHEREAS, this grant will fund reimbursement of overtime used for setting up enforcement targeted at high risk and hazardous drivers; and,
WHEREAS, an appropriation is necessary to place the grant funds in the proper spending accounts; now therefore,
BE IT ORDAINED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the following appropriation be and hereby is made;
