Body
WHEREAS, County taxpayers are constantly seeking information on real estate and recorded documents online; and,

WHEREAS, the Records Department believes in furthering the development of online access to County records and preserving County records from the past two centuries; and,

WHEREAS, currently only five years of recorded land document images are obtainable online; and,

WHEREAS, land list books with numerous marginal notations of historical and legal significance are maintained currently in very fragile book form which extends to 19 x 30 inches when opened for copying; and reproduction for preservation; and,

WHEREAS, it is a goal of the County to provide effective and efficient online services and to effectively and efficiently preserve historical documents of great value to the public; and,

WHEREAS, a Planetary Scanner, specialized scanning equipment, with color image capacity, is required by the Record Department for this purpose; and,

WHEREAS, through the purchase of this type of digital scanning equipment, land list books dating back to the 1800's can also be made digitally accessible to the general public; and,

WHEREAS, the Records Department believes, over a five year period, this digital scanning equipment will allow all records for the past century to be available online; and,

WHEREAS, the Purchasing Director has solicited formal written bids on Electronic Solicitation No. BB200492 for the furnishing of the Records Department's requested Planetary scanner; and,
