Body
WHEREAS, the Prosecuting Attorney has reviewed a proposal from Children's Mercy Hospital for its Team for Infants Endangered by Substance Abuse (TIES) program; and,
WHEREAS, the TIES program is a multi-agency intensive, home-based intervention program designed for pregnant and parenting women and their families; and,
WHEREAS, this program is a collaborative effort involving several community organizations; and,
WHEREAS, TIES staff provide direct services in supportive counseling, parenting education, transportation, emergency assistance, and access to specialized pediatric medical developmental follow up; and,
WHEREAS, the TIES program receives grant funding from the United States Department of Health and Human Services in the amount of $450,000; and,
WHEREAS, this grant is subject to a local match in the amount of $200,000.00; and,
WHEREAS, Children's Mercy Hospital has requested Anti-Drug Sales Tax funds in the amount of $50,000.00 to serve as a portion of this local match; and,
WHEREAS, the Prosecuting Attorney has recommended funding in the amount of $50,000.00 from his grant match account for the TIES proposal; therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the County Executive is hereby authorized to enter into an Agreement with Children's Mercy Hospital, in a form to be approved by the County Counselor, in the actual amount of $50,000.00; and,
