WHEREAS, it is necessary to define residency as applied to the Officers and Employees of Jackson County, Missouri, which includes all nonmerit employees; and,
WHEREAS, the residency definition will provide a clear definition for both applicants and employees; now therefore,
BE IT ORDAINED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, as follows:
Section A. Enacting Clause. Sections 730., Jackson County Code, 1984, is hereby repealed, and one new section is enacted in lieu thereof, to be known as section 730., to read as follows:
730. Residency, Officers and Employees.
All officers and employees of the county shall be residents of Jackson County, Missouri. A person's residence is hereby defined as the true fixed and permanent address of an individual, where when such individual is absent from said address, the individual has the intention of returning to that address and remaining there as their permanent abode.

Effective Date: This ordinance shall be effective immediately upon its signature by the County Executive.
