AN ORDINANCE transferring $9,497.00 within the 2004 General Fund and appropriating $37,989.00 from the unappropriated surplus of the 2004 Grant Fund to cover the Kidsafe grant for the Prosecuting Attorney's Office, received from the United States Department of Justice through the Heart of America United Way and the transfer of the matching funds, and authorizing the County Executive to execute an Agreement with the Heart of America United Way regarding this grant.

Body
WHEREAS, the Heart of America United Way's "Kansas City Kidsafe" program works in partnership with numerous community organizations to reduce child abuse and neglect and prevent juvenile delinquency in Kansas City; and,
WHEREAS, of this sum, Heart of America United Way has awarded a subgrant in the amount of $28,492.00 to the Prosecuting Attorney's Office to cover 75% of the salary of an assistant prosecuting attorney and other related costs, to support the Kidsafe program; and,
WHEREAS, said subgrant is subject to a $9,497.00 local match; and,
WHEREAS, a transfer and appropriation are necessary to place the subgrant and matching funds in the proper spending accounts; and,
WHEREAS, the County Executive recommends said transfer and appropriation; and,
WHEREAS, the attached Agreement sets out the understanding of the parties regarding this grant program; now therefore,
BE IT ORDAINED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the following transfer within the 2004 General Fund and appropriation from the unappropriated surplus of the 2004 Grant Fund be and hereby are made:
