Body
WHEREAS, the voters of Jackson County, Missouri, approved imposition of a sales tax for seven years to provide funding for the fight against illegal drugs in our community; and,
WHEREAS, the proceeds and interest generated from this tax are deposited in a special Jackson County Anti-Drug Sales Tax Trust Fund that is segregated and not commingled with the general fund or any other special funds of the County; and,
WHEREAS, Ordinance 2927, dated July 6, 1999, authorized the County Executive to execute a contract out of anti-drug sales tax funds with Heart of America United Way, to provide a grant match for its KIDSAFE program, at a cost to the County of $67,096.40; and,
WHEREAS, the Prosecuting Attorney now recommends extending and increasing this contract in an amount not to exceed $26,494.00, upon the terms and conditions set out in the First Addendum attached hereto; now therefore,
BE IT ORDAINED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the following transfer within the 2000 Anti-Drug Sales Tax Fund and appropriation from the unappropriated surplus of the 2000 Grant Fund be made to provide additional grant match funding for the Heart of America United Way's KIDSAFE program for the Prosecuting Attorney's Office:
