Body
WHEREAS, Charles R. Keller, a deputy with the Jackson County Sheriff's Department, was recently honored by the Missouri DARE Officers Association by being named as Missouri's first DARE Ambassador of the Year and receiving the Association's Presidential Achievement Award; and,

WHEREAS, Deputy Keller has a 35-year background spent in the area of law enforcement, 30 years of which was with the Kansas City, Missouri Police Department where he was instrumental in bringing the Officer Friendly program to the midwest area; and,

WHEREAS, for the past five years Deputy Keller has worked as a DARE officer in the Community Relations Unit of the Sheriff's Department and has been an instructor in public, private, and parochial schools throughout Jackson County; and,

WHEREAS, Deputy Keller has been the recipient of numerous awards from civic organizations including the Officer of the Year Award presented to him by past Director of the F.B.I., Clarence Kelly, and the Commendation Medal presented to him by the Kansas City, MO Police Department; now therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri that the Legislature hereby recognizes Charles R. Keller as having been named DARE Ambassador of the Year by the Missouri DARE Officers Association.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
