Body
WHEREAS, Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women whose primary purpose is to stay sober and help others to achieve sobriety; and,
WHEREAS, Alcoholics Anonymous was founded by Bill W. and Dr. Bob S. in Akron, Ohio, in 1935; and,
WHEREAS, Alcoholics Anonymous nationwide has over 49,000 groups and 1.2 million members; and,
WHEREAS, Alcoholics Anonymous has had a strong presence in Jackson County for over 50 years; and,
WHEREAS, that presence in Jackson County has positively affected innumerable lives of individuals recovering from the disease of alcoholism; therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri that the Legislature commends Alcoholics Anonymous for its good works on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of its founding.
Attorney
Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
