IN THE COUNTY LEGISLATURE OF JACKSON COUNTY, MISSOURI

Title
A RESOLUTION transferring $60,204.00 within the 2001 Anti-Drug Sales Tax Fund and authorizing the County Executive to execute contracts with certain municipalities within Jackson County for the purpose of funding their 2000-2001 Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE) or similar anti-drug programs, at a total cost to the County not to exceed $1,112,909.00.

Body
WHEREAS, representatives from all municipalities in Jackson County whose police departments sponsor Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE) or similar anti-drug programs have made a joint request to the COMBAT Commission and County Legislature, regarding the formula for Jackson County's funding of these programs for the 2000-2001 term; and,

WHEREAS, the consensus reached among the municipalities and COMBAT staff was that these programs be funded in the following amounts:

City of Blue Springs $146,009
City of Grandview 74,702
City of Independence 333,276
City of Kansas City 311,671
City of Lee's Summit 181,204
City of Grain Valley 10,373
City of Oak Grove 20,373
City of Raytown 45,301
TOTAL $1,122,909

and,

WHEREAS, at its meeting of July 12, 2001, the COMBAT Commission endorsed the recommendations of the municipalities and agencies involved; and,

WHEREAS, the attached form contract provides a suitable mechanism by which the requested funds can be transferred to the participating municipalities; and,

WHEREAS, a transfer within the 2000 Anti-Drug Sales Tax Fund is necessary to effect the recommendation with regard to the D.A.R.E. programs; and,

WHEREAS, the County Executive recommends such transfer; now therefore,
