Body
WHEREAS, by Resolution 13392, dated October 16, 2000, the County did award one-year contracts for group health insurance to FirstGuard and Kaiser Permanente; and,

WHEREAS, FirstGuard provided for three one-year guaranteed renewal terms and Kaiser Permanente did not provide guaranteed renewal terms; and,

WHEREAS, Kaiser Permanente Health Plan of Kansas City was purchased by Coventry Health during the year 2001; and,

WHEREAS, FirstGuard has offered a third year renewal at a 11% increase and Coventry has offered a competitive renewal rate; and,

WHEREAS, the Director of Human Resources recommends renewal of the County's current contracts for group health insurance for County employees for 2002 upon terms and conditions set forth in the original agreements, including an increase in rates for all plans, as follows:

therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the extension and renewal of the health insurance contract of Coventry Health Care, consisting of an HMO, and FirstGuard, consisting of both an HMO and a Point of Service plan upon terms and conditions set out in the original agreements, be, and hereby are approved; and,


BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County Executive be, and hereby is, authorized to execute all documents necessary to effect these extensions and renewals.

Enacted and Approved
Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
