WHEREAS, Jack E. Gant graduated from Northeast High School in 1945 and served in the United States Marine Corps from 1946 to 1948; and,
WHEREAS, he received his B.A. degree in 1951 from the University of Missouri-Columbia and his J.D. degree in 1954 from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law; and,
WHEREAS, from 1956 through 1960 he worked as a part-time prosecutor, and from 1955 through 1976 as an attorney in private practice, eventually becoming a partner in the law firm of Gant, Jolley, Moran, Walsh, Hager and Gordon; and,
WHEREAS, from 1966 to 1976 Judge Gant served in the Missouri General Assembly as a state senator; and,
WHEREAS, Judge Gant was appointed to the Jackson County Circuit Court bench on December 17, 1976, by Governor Christopher S. Bond and served as presiding judge from 1991-1992 and juvenile judge from 1982-1983; and,
WHEREAS, he has chaired the Circuit Court's Budget and Audit Committees and has been a member of the Missouri Supreme Court's Critical Issues Committee since 1990; and,
WHEREAS, Judge Gant is a member of the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association, the Eastern Jackson County Bar Association, and The Missouri Bar; and,
WHEREAS, Judge Gant has served as president of the State Trial Judges and Juvenile Judges Sections of the Missouri Judicial Conference, University of Missouri Alumni Alliance, University of Missouri-Kansas City Law Alumni Association, Community Services League, Board of the Independence Y.M.C.A., William Jewe...
