Body
WHEREAS, Rachel Reed, a senior at Lee's Summit High School, has received a special medal of honor for her outstanding performance on the 2001 National German Exam; and,
WHEREAS, for the second consecutive year Rachel achieved one of the highest scores in the nation on this demanding exam; and,
WHEREAS, the recognition of her outstanding accomplishment came from the Missouri Chapter of the American Association of Teachers of German; and,
WHEREAS, Rachel was also named "Optimist of the Month" for the month of October 2001; and,
WHEREAS, Rachel plays the clarinet and is a member of five different bands at Lee's Summit High School; and,
WHEREAS, Rachel is currently President of the German Club and lived as an exchange student in Minden, Germany; and,
WHEREAS, she will study abroad for six months during college and plans to attend the University of Missouri-Columbia in 2002, majoring in secondary education with a goal of teaching German or Biology, or both; and,
WHEREAS, Rachel is the daughter of Gary and Julie Reed of Lee's Summit, Missouri; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature hereby extends sincere congratulations to Rachel Reed upon receiving a special medal of honor for her outstanding performance on the 2001 National German Exam.
Enacted and Approved
Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
