Body
WHEREAS, Kanbe's Markets proudly marked a historic moment with the official opening of the 100th Fresh Food Access Partner located inside Food Express at 3740 E. Gregory Blvd., Kansas City, Missouri; and,

WHEREAS, a cornerstone of Kanbe's Markets' mission to build more inclusive food systems, the Fresh Food Access Program places fresh and affordable fruits and vegetables inside independently-owned stores serving low-income Kansas City communities facing low access to traditional grocery stores; and,

WHEREAS, nearly half of Americans currently say grocery costs are a major source of stress and 1.2 million KC-area residents live more than one-half mile from fresh food, Kanbe's offers a unique solution to these challenges, a produce consignment program that stocks locally-owned businesses with high-quality fruits and vegetables- this model ensures nearby residents can find fresh, healthy options right in their own communities without traveling far or paying more; and,

WHEREAS, Fresh Food Access Partnerships are intentionally established in neighborhoods with limited access to fresh food options. Kanbe's Markets works in partnership with leading Kansas City organizations, including Blue KC, UMKC, and Neighborhood Councils to identify locations guided by data and community; and,

WHEREAS, families in our community face difficult decisions surrounding food access and the challenges continue to grow, the opening of the 100th store represents a milestone in making healthy, fresh produce a realistic choice, now therefore,
