AN ORDINANCE appropriating $9,050,000.00 from the undesignated fund balance of the 2022 County Improvement Fund and authorizing the County Executive to execute a commercial real estate sales contract for the purchase of a certain property for use as the new County Administration building at an actual cost to the County in the amount of $9,000,000.00.

Body
WHEREAS, in 2021 the Administration conducted a search for a suitable facility in downtown Kansas City to serve as a new County Administration building; and,
WHEREAS, the acquisition of a County Administration building would allow for County judicial and law enforcement functions to be consolidated from several County-owned and leased spaces into the downtown courthouse; and,
WHEREAS, a suitable building has been identified and a purchase and sale agreement for the identified building has been drafted and agreed to by the seller and the County Administration, subject to Legislative approval, at an actual cost to the County in the amount of $9,000,000.00; and,
WHEREAS, an appropriation is needed to place the funds required for the building purchase and estimated closing costs in the proper spending account; now therefore,
BE IT ORDAINED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the following appropriation from the undesignated fund balance of the 2022 County Improvement Fund be and hereby is made:
