Body
WHEREAS, Anna Locke, daughter of Charles and Donita Locke, is a senior at Raytown High School and has earned the designation of semi-finalist in the National Merit Scholarship program which will enable her to compete for National Merit Scholarship awards; and,
WHEREAS, the National Merit Scholarship Corporation, founded in 1955, conducts an annual National Merit Scholarship competition by administering the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test, which produces a nationwide pool of semi-finalists representing less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors and includes the highest scoring entrants in each state; and,
WHEREAS, Anna has achieved a class rank of 5 out of 331 students with a grade point average of 3.9; and,
WHEREAS, in addition to her exceptional academic status, Anna is an All-State french horn player, first vice president of National Honor Society, president of the Greenhouse Club, member of the Kansas City All-Metro District Band, member of the Kansas City Youth Symphony, Drum Major in the Marching band, member of the Concert and Jazz bands, and a past attendee at the Missouri Scholars Academy, and,
WHEREAS, Anna plans to attend college with a major in microbiology; therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature congratulates Anna Locke as a National Merit Scholarship semi-finalist and extends sincere best wishes for continued success in her endeavors now and in the future.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
