Body
WHEREAS, Mary Agnes Petrovic graduated in May, 2005, from St. Mary's High School with an exceptional record of achievement in academics; and,
WHEREAS, Mary is the daughter of Christopher Petrovic, Sr., and Trudy Jonas, and the sister of "Topper"; and,
WHEREAS, Mary had a 4.35 Grade Point Average on a 4.0 scale and was the valedictorian of her graduating class; and,
WHEREAS, Mary has received many awards and recognitions during her academic tenure including: President's Education Award, George Washington Carver Award, Bausch & Comb Honorary Science Award, Principal's Honor Roll, National Merit Scholar, Missouri Bright Flight Scholar, Kobe Scholarship, Bundschu Academic Scholarship, and the 2005 College Preparatory Studies Certificate; and,
WHEREAS, Mary served as a Student Ambassador, the President of the Student Council, the Secretary of the National Honor Society, the Co-Editor of the Yearbook, and was an active member in the Spanish Club, Science Club, Spirit Club, and Choir; and,
WHEREAS, in addition to her academic career, Mary also played volleyball, basketball, and ran track and field; and,
WHEREAS, she was also involved in a number of community service activities including: volunteering in a political campaign, volunteering at a parochial volleyball camp, serving as a Lector, Eucharist Minister, and as a member of the Sugar Creek Homeland Security Board; and,
WHEREAS, Mary plans to attend the Georgetown University in New York, majoring in Sociology and International Relations; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature congratulates Mary Petrovic on her outstanding accomplishments and excellence in academics ...
