Body
WHEREAS, the Asian American Chamber of Commerce of Kansas City will honor its 2024 award winners at its 20th Annual Awards Gala to be held May 16, 2024, at the Sheraton Overland Park Hotel; and,

WHEREAS, the Asian American Chamber of Commerce of Kansas City was established in 1998 as a non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing economic opportunities for Asian American businesses through education, networking, and advocacy, while promoting community engagement and visibility; and,

WHEREAS, the Chamber's commitment to fostering relationships among diverse groups has significantly contributed to the economic and cultural vibrancy of our community, which is home to over 80,000 Asian Americans; and,

WHEREAS, at this years' gala event, Jean-Paul Wong of PURE Workplace Solutions will be recognized as the Entrepreneur of the Year, Rekha Sharma-Crawford of Sharma-Crawford Attorneys at Law, LLC will be recognized as the Professional Leader of the Year, and Black & Veatch will be recognized as the Corporation of the Year; and,

WHEREAS, Gary Locke, a leader in the areas of trade, employment, human rights, and the environment as a former U.S. Ambassador to China, U.S. Secretary of Commerce, and Governor of Washington State, will be the keynote speaker at the awards gala; and,

WHEREAS, in his role as the U.S. Ambassador to China from 2011-2014, Mr. Locke opened markets for made-in-USA goods and services, reduced wait times for visa interviews, and exposed the severity of the air pollution in China, inspiring people to demand action to address this importan...
