Body
WHEREAS, the voters of Jackson County, Missouri, renewed their sales tax for seven years to provide funding for the fight against illegal drugs in our community; and,

WHEREAS, the proceeds and interest generated from this tax are deposited in a special Jackson County Anti-Drug Sales Tax Trust Fund that is segregated and not commingled with the general fund or any other special funds of the County; and,

WHEREAS, the voters and the Legislature authorized the COMBAT Commission to contract with any organization or entity, whether public or private, which engages in anti-drug treatment and rehabilitation activities, for the purposes of treatment and rehabilitation of drug users; and,

WHEREAS, by Resolution 13219, dated May 15, 2000, the Jackson County Legislature authorized the County to enter into agreements with certain organizations which engage in anti-drug treatment and rehabilitation activities for the purpose of treating users of illegal drugs at a total cost to the County not to exceed $2,233,238.03; and,

WHEREAS, the parties desire to extend the time for performance in each instance for twelve months, on the same payment terms, and enter into Addenda to Agreements, in a general form as approved by the County Counselor, at a cost to the County not to exceed $2,628,752.00; and,

WHEREAS, the organizations, listed on the document attached hereto as Exhibit A, all engage in drug treatment and rehabilitation activities, and are otherwise qual...
