Body
WHEREAS, Truman Medical Center ("TMC") has been named by the University Health System Consortium ("UHC") one of the top five hospital operations in the nation; and,

WHEREAS, the other national performance award recipients in the top five are the Mayo Clinic, Bringham and Women's Hospital, Rush University Medical Center, and the University of Wisconsin Hospital & Clinics; and,

WHEREAS, TMC is a not-for-profit health care system operating two hospital facilities, TMC-Hospital Hill and TMC-Lakewood, and is the largest provider in the Kansas City area for outpatient care; and,

WHEREAS, TMC was rated pursuant to standards established by the Agency for Health Care Research and Quality, as having the lowest mortality rate for procedure-based Inpatient Quality Indicators, low re-admission rates, top performing scores for safety, top operational performance scores for cost and length of stay indicators, strong financial performance in terms of operating revenue, margin and the ability to access capital markets, and optimal scores for multiple angles of equity including gender, socioeconomic and race indicators; and,

WHEREAS, last year, TMC administered over 17,000 inpatient admissions, treated almost 30,000 outpatients, and between the two hospital emergency rooms treated almost 84,000 patients; and,

WHEREAS, TMC has received other recognitions including: being rated a top performer in heart attack and heart failure care by the Missouri Medicare Quality Initiative program, being rated one of "America's Best Hos...
