Title
A RESOLUTION expressing the intent of the Legislature that, in the event of underspending of CARES Act funds by any of the County's contracted political subdivisions and outside agencies, any such unspent CARES Act funds be reallocated to reimburse the County for any of its CARES Act eligible, pandemic-related costs incurred during the period from March 1, 2020, through December 30, 2020, not previously reimbursed.

WHEREAS, in connection with the ongoing COVID-19/coronavirus pandemic, the County received in excess of $122 million in CARES Act funds from the U.S Treasury to be used for specified pandemic-related purposes: and
WHEREAS, in furtherance of those purposes, the Legislature has previously authorized contracts with approximately forty political subdivisions and private outside agencies for the expenditure of nearly $108 million of these CARES Act funds; and
WHEREAS, since these funds must be used for expenses that were or will be incurred during the relatively tight time window of March 1, 2020, through December 30, 2020, it is anticipated that there could be significant underspending of the funds authorized by these contracts; and
WHEREAS, the Legislature believes it is appropriate that any such unspent funds be repurposed for other eligible CARES Act expenses, to the extent that such repurposing is authorized by the CARES Act; now therefore
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature hereby expresses its intent that, in the event of underspending of CARES Act funds by any of the County's contracted political subdivisions and private outside agencies, any such unspent CARES Act funds be reallocated to reimburse the County for any of its CARES Act eligible, pandemic-related costs incurred during the period from March 1, 2020, through Dec...
