A RESOLUTION authorizing the County Executive to execute two amendments to the contract with J.E. Dunn-Axiom of Kansas City, MO, for the construction of the new Jackson County Detention Center to cover Component Packages 2B and 2C related to the furnishing of services, labor, and materials for the footing, foundation, and structural portions of the of the new Detention Center Project, at a cost to the County not to exceed $193,996,230.00.

WHEREAS, by Ordinance No. 5621, dated April 25, 2022, the Legislature did award a contract for the construction of the new Jackson County Detention Center to J.E. Dunn-Axiom of Kansas City (Jackson County), MO pursuant to the terms and conditions of Request for Proposals No. 7-22; and,
WHEREAS, by Ordinance No. 5732, dated April 17, 2023, the Legislature did authorize the issuance of special obligation bonds for the funding of the new Jackson County Detention Center; and,
WHEREAS, by Ordinance No. 5743, dated May 9, 2023, the Legislature did authorize Component Package 2 (Site Demolition, Site Development, and Earthwork), and Component Package 2a (Engineering, Detailing, Mockups, and Early Procurement) to begin construction of the new Detention Center; and,
WHEREAS, the design/build phase of the project is nearly complete and to keep the project on schedule and on budget it is now appropriate to approve Component Packages 2B and 2C at a cost not to exceed $193,996,230.00, to begin the footing, foundation, and structural portions of the new detention center building, including enclosure of the building, roofing, and utilities through the rough-in phase of construction; and,
