Body
WHEREAS, Boy Scouting focuses on boys in the 6th through 12th grades and who strive to earn ranks all the way to Eagle Scout, the top honor in Boys Scouts; and,
WHEREAS, on March 18, 1946, Troop 62 applied for and received its first charter through the sponsorship of the Boone School Association, which later became the Boone School PTA; and,
WHEREAS, with this sponsorship, Troop 62 received its charter from the Heart of America Council of the Boy Scouts of America; and,
WHEREAS, Troop 62 has had 14 scoutmasters since its founding, 248 boys have earned the rank of Eagle Scout, most scouts in the troop have become members of the Tribe of Mic-O-Say, and most recently the scouts have become members of the national scouting society "Order of the Arrow;" and,
WHEREAS, the leadership of Troop 62 requires the active support and cooperation of the chartered organization, the troop committee chairperson, scoutmaster, scout leaders, and many others; and,
WHEREAS, Boy Scout Troop 62 is instrumental in helping boys build good character and values and develop into model citizens and leaders in the community; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature honors Boy Scout Troop 62 on its 60th birthday, and wishes the membership continued success in the years to come.
Enacted and Approved
Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
