WHEREAS, the Blackwell, Glaze, Partlow, Roberts Family Reunion is a fine tradition which has been observed for the last six years; and,
WHEREAS, the theme for this year's Heart of America, Kansas City Reunion, is We Are Kindred Spirits: We Share Dreams, Inspire Love, Heal Hearts, Embrace Spirits, Nurture Souls, Share Feelings, and Celebrate Life; and,
WHEREAS, the Blackwell, Glaze, Partlow, Roberts' family motto is Family, God's Circle of Love; and,
WHEREAS, descendants of these families will gather for their sixth annual reunion on August 7-9, 1998, at The Embassy Suites, on the Plaza; and,
WHEREAS, family members will come from the states of Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, California, Ohio, Michigan, Illinois, Pennsylvania, Texas, Massachusetts, and Kansas; and,
WHEREAS, among the attendees are matriarchs Ruth Blackwell Garnett, age 89, Cora J. Glaze Roberts, age 86, and Mary E. Glaze Whiten, age 84, and patriarchs Monroe Blackwell, age 80, and Horace Partlow, age 65; and,
WHEREAS, the sixth annual Blackwell, Glaze, Partlow, Roberts family reunion promises to be a weekend full of exciting family events and activities including a barbecue and family fun night, luncheon and family talent show, and church service with a farewell dinner at the Bethel A.M.E. Church; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature does hereby declare the weekend of August 7-9, 1998, as the Blackwell, Glaze, Partlow, Roberts family reunion weekend.
