A RESOLUTION transferring $3,100.00 within the 2012 Road and Bridge Fund and awarding a contract for the purchase of a John Deere 524K loader for use by the Public Works Department to Murphy Tractor & Equipment Company of Kansas City, MO, under the terms and conditions set forth in Missouri Department of Transportation Contract No. 03-120320RJ, an existing government contract, at an actual cost to the County not to exceed $3,100.00, and declaring certain personal property as surplus to be used as a trade-in on this purchase.

Body
WHEREAS, the Road and Bridge Division of the Public Works Department is in need of a John Deere 524K loader; and,
WHEREAS, the Director of Finance and Purchasing recommends the award of a contract for the purchase of this equipment to Murphy Tractor & Equipment of Kansas City (Clay County), MO, under the terms and conditions set forth in Missouri Department of Transportation Contract No. 03-120320RJ, an existing government contract, at an actual cost to the County of $113,100.00; and,
WHEREAS, the Public Works Department desires to trade-in on this purchase a 2009 John Deere 710J Backhoe, with a trade-in value of $110,000.00, bringing the cost of the new loader to $3,100.00; and,
WHEREAS, the Director of Finance and Purchasing recommends the award to Murphy Tractor & Equipment under the existing government contract due to the higher volume discounts offered to larger entities; and,
WHEREAS, pursuant to section 1030.4, Jackson County Code, 1984, the Director of Finance and Purchasing is required to submit any purchase under an existing government contract which exceeds $25,000.00 to the Legislature for approval; and,
