Body
WHEREAS, on January 29, 2002, Charlie Bock, the veteran Blue Springs High School volleyball coach, has received the Peggy Johnson Award for lifetime achievement from the Missouri High School Volleyball Coaches Association; and,

WHEREAS, the award was named in memory of Peggy Johnson, a veteran volleyball coach whose career was cut short by a stroke; and,

WHEREAS, Coach Bock started his volleyball career 19 years ago in Alma, Missouri, where he led the Class 1A Santa Fe High School team to five consecutive state championships from 1983 through 1987; and,

WHEREAS, ironically it was Blue Springs South High School Head Volleyball Coach Jerry MacLean who talked Bock into coaching; and,

WHEREAS, "It was one of the best decisions of my life," said Coach Bock in an Independence Examiner interview; and,

WHEREAS, Brock said it was through coaching volleyball and seeing how dedicated the players were that he "fell in love with it;" and,

WHEREAS, his career total record is an amazing 432-125-34, and he is 195-63-27 with Blue Springs, including three Final Four appearance (fourth in 1994 and third in 1999 and 2001), seven district titles, and one Suburban Conference crown in 2001; and,

WHEREAS, "To receive something like this-something named after Peggy Johnson and something that is voted on by your peers - is just huge," said Coach Bock; now therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature commends Blue Springs High School Volleyball Coach Charlie Bock, upon receiving the Peggy Johnson Award for lifetime achievement from ...
