Body
WHEREAS, Dennis Person, most recently the manager of the Area 2 Probation Unit of the Jackson County Family Court, retired on April 23, 2004, after 31 years of service to the Court; and,

WHEREAS, Mr. Person and his four sisters were raised by their mother, LaVerne Person, in Fort Scott, Kansas, where he enjoyed the benefits of a large and closely knit family; and,

WHEREAS, Mr. Person attended Fort Scott Community College and graduated from Pittsburg State University in 1971 with a bachelor's degree in social work; and,

WHEREAS, he began working for Jackson County Family Court May 1, 1973, and spent nearly 20 years working at McCune Residential Center as a social worker, social work supervisor, assistant facility manager, and facility manager; and,

WHEREAS, in 1993 he transferred from McCune to begin work as a manager of group homes, later serving as manager of the Area 1 Probation Unit, and ultimately finishing his career as manager of the Area 2 Probation Unit; and,

WHEREAS, Mr. Person married Beverly Albertson in 1992, has three children, Dennie Ann Young, Leah Person, and Dennis Person III, and is looking forward to the birth of his first grandchild in July; and,

WHEREAS, Mr. Person plans to enjoy retirement by fishing, camping and traveling with his wife and two dogs, Boogie and Buddy, as well as continuing his hobbies of gardening, building birdhouses and feeders, and following his favorite sports teams, the Jayhawks, Lakers and Chiefs; and,

WHEREAS, Mr. Person has been a mentor to countless people in the Jackson County Family Court through his 31 years, is revered by his ...
