WHEREAS, VFW is a monthly magazine which features articles relating to or about veterans who have served in foreign wars; and,
WHEREAS, Eddie G. Brooks, Sr., Manager of Operations for Jackson County, was one of five veterans who was chosen as the focus of the April 1997 cover story of VFW magazine; and,
WHEREAS, in an article entitled "Vietnam Vets Fought Stereotypes to Achieve Success," author B. G. Burkett and Glenna Whitley discuss the myths surrounding veterans of the Vietnam War and focus on statistical information denouncing these myths; and,
WHEREAS, Eddie is pictured and featured as a Vietnam veteran who, after 25 years, has successfully adjusted to civilian life; and,
WHEREAS, Eddie served in Vietnam from 1970-71 in the Army, 7th Cav., 1st Aviation Bde. and is currently a member of VFW Post 30; and,
WHEREAS, admiration and respect go out to Eddie Brooks upon having been chosen as the subject of a story about Vietnam veterans who are now leading very successful, fulfilling careers; and,
BE IT RESOLVED, by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature hereby recognizes and congratulates Eddie G. Brooks, Sr. upon being chosen by VFW magazine as one of its subjects for its April 1997 feature story.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
