Body

WHEREAS, the Alternative Break Program of James Madison University, Harrisonburg, VA, offers opportunities to its students for travel and volunteering during academic breaks their time and energy to community organizations on a national and international level; and,

WHEREAS, each service trip consists of two student co-leaders, at least one James Madison University faculty or staff member, and student representatives who will experience an alcohol and drug free alternative to the more traditional spring breaks while providing a concrete and meaningful way to serve those in need; and,

WHEREAS, the 2007 James Madison University Community Service volunteers donating their time and energy to the staff, women, and children of Sheffield Place are Lindsay Abbott and Lon Hopkins - Trip Leaders, Sharlene Thompson - Learning Partner, and Jenna Stephenson, Heather Cote, Julia Solow, Carolyn Healy, Jaclyn Levis, Jamie Lockhart, and Rachel Bruton; now therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature acknowledges the James Madison University Alternative Break Program and commends the 2007 James Madison University Community Service Volunteers for their service to Sheffield Place and the Jackson County community.


Enacted and Approved
Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
