Body
WHEREAS, Governor Matt Blunt has recently appointed Jackson County Drug Court Commissioner the Honorable Brian C. Wimes as judge of Division 18 of the Circuit Court of Jackson County; and,

WHEREAS, Judge Wimes is recognized for his six years of distinguished service as Drug Court Commissioner, during which time he consistently demonstrated his willingness to go the "extra mile" to ensure long-term success for individuals in the Drug Court program, as evidenced by the national recognition the Drug Court program achieved under his leadership; and,

WHEREAS, Judge Wimes, a native of Kansas City, Missouri, earned his Bachelor's degree in Political Science from the University of Kansas and his Juris Doctor from Texas Southern University's Thurgood Marshall School of Law; and,

WHEREAS, Judge Wimes has demonstrated his exceptional legal skills by first working in the U.S. Department of Justice, Bureau of Prisons litigation branch, then serving as an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney in the Community Prosecution Unit and the Drug Unit in the Jackson County Prosecuting Attorney's Office from 1995-2001, where he achieved the notable "Rookie Prosecutor of the Year" designation in 1995; and,

WHEREAS, Judge Wimes was the recipient of the prestigious "Forty under Forty" honor presented by Ingram's magazine which is awarded to those citizens recognized as influential and accomplished leaders of business, government, and community in Kansas City; and,

WHEREAS, Judge Wimes maintains professional involvement with the American Bar, Missouri Bar...
