Body
WHEREAS, the voters of Jackson County, Missouri, approved imposition of a sales tax for seven years to provide funding for the fight against illegal drugs in our community; and,

WHEREAS, the proceeds and interest generated from this tax are deposited in a special Jackson County Anti-Drug Sales Tax Trust Fund that is segregated and not commingled with the general fund or any other special funds of the County; and,

WHEREAS, by Ordinance 2214, dated July 12, 1993, the Legislature authorized the Prosecuting Attorney to provide the local matching funds to federal, state, and private grants to programs ser ing the purposes of the prevention, investigation, and prosecution of drug and drug-related offenses; nd,

WHEREAS, Don Bosco YouthNet has requested matching funds in the amount of $100,000, to match grants from the City of Kansas City, in the amount of $55,000, and the Kaufmann Foundation, in the amount of $61,840; and,

WHEREAS, Don Bosco YouthNet is an organization which engages in community crime prevention activities, has been in existence for at least five years, and is otherwise qualified to contract with the County for the expenditure of anti-drug sales tax funds; and,

WHEREAS, the Jackson County Prosecuting Attorney desires to assist Don Bosco YouthNet in the provision of services and has recommended the expenditure of anti-drug sales tax funds for this organization, as set out in the attached agreement, to assist in the prevention of drug and drug-r lated offenses; now therefore,
