Body
WHEREAS, Veronica Sauer, daughter of Robert and Beverly Sauer, is a senior at Archbishop O'Hara High School and has earned the designation of finalist in the National Merit Scholarship program; and,

WHEREAS, the National Merit Scholarship Corporation, founded in 1955, conducts an annual National Merit Scholarship competition by administering the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test, which produces a nationwide pool of semi-finalists representing less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors and includes the highest scoring entrants in each state; and,

WHEREAS, National Merit Scholarship finalists will be eligible for National Merit Scholarship awards; and,

WHEREAS, through her pursuit of academic excellence, Veronica has earned the designation of National Merit Scholarship finalist; and,

WHEREAS, Veronica has earned numerous honors including the KMBC/HyVee Scholar Athlete, WordMasters recognition for top overall student, freshman theology certificate of merit, academic achievement award for GPA, achievement in World Geography, outstanding student in World History, outstanding student in Advanced Placement (AP) U. S. History, English award of excellence, AP American Literature Award of Excellence, and Missouri Scholars Academy; and,

WHEREAS, in addition to her wealth of academic achievements, Veronica has contributed her time and talents as a volunteer on a service trip to India to work in the centers started by Mother Teresa, a volunteer for Catholic Worker house, an Alzheimer's care facility volunteer, and an assistant coach to a special needs soccer team; and,

WHEREAS, Veronica plans to attend the University of Oklahoma to pursue a degr...
