Body
WHEREAS, the Director of Finance and Purchasing recommends the purchase of a narrow band radio system for use by the Department of Corrections to Commenco of Kansas City (Jackson County), MO, under the terms and conditions set forth in Mid-America Regional Council (MARC) Contract No. 33, an existing government contract, at an actual cost to the County not to exceed $295,534.28; and,

WHEREAS, Federal Communication Commission (FCC) regulations require that all public safety radio systems must change to a narrow band system by December 31, 2012; and,

WHEREAS, this system will combine into one unit the required narrow band system with a new LRT/scanner system used to track inmate movement, which is currently outdated; and,

WHEREAS, the Director of Finance and Purchasing recommends the award to Commenco under the existing government contract due to the higher volume discounts offered to larger entities; and,

WHEREAS, pursuant to section 1030.4, Jackson County Code, 1984, the Director of Finance and Purchasing is required to submit any purchase under an existing government contract which exceeds $25,000.00 to the Legislature for approval; and,

WHEREAS, a transfer is necessary to fund this purchase; and,

WHEREAS, the County Executive recommends the transfer; now therefore,
