Body
WHEREAS, Pastor Miles was appointed to the Jackson County Sports Complex Authority Commission by Governor Jay Nixon in 2013 and reappointed by Governor Mike Parson until 2023, he served as Secretary overseeing the Kauffman Stadium, and GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium; and,
WHEREAS, Pastor Miles is a prominent leader in the community, he is a Pastor of Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church of Jesus Christ and was a team player in the development and construction of the 80-million dollar East Patrol Police station and crime lab, and a 40-unit, three-story building featuring two bedroom apartments for senior living located at 2711 Wabash; and,
WHEREAS, Morning Star Baptist Church of Jesus Christ located at 2711 E. 27th Street, has partnered with Harvesters and Community Action Agency KC to distribute over 2,700,00 pounds of food to those in need; and,
WHEREAS, with the spread of COVID-19, Pastor Miles teamed up with Truman Medical Center, the Missouri National Army Guard, and Local Investment Commission (LINC) to open a COVID-19 vaccination clinic at Morning Star Development Center, in which over 27,000 vaccinations were administered to the citizens of Kansas City, Missouri; and,
WHEREAS, Pastor Miles joined forces with LINC, KC Water, Evergy, Spire, KC Neighborhoods and the Housing and Community Action Agency of Kansas City to assist in processing utilities aid for households totaling over $1,700,000.00; and,
WHEREAS Pastor Miles was able to assist in obtaining job opportunities for over one hundred persons from January to December 2021 through Sun Fresh, Thriftway Grocery Stores, JE Dunn Construction Company, Full Employment Council, Kansas City Z...
