RESOLUTION NO. 18279, October 14, 2013

INTRODUCED BY Crystal Williams, County Legislator

Body
WHEREAS, section 295, Jackson County Code, 1984, provides authority for the position of Lobbyist to the Legislature; and,

WHEREAS, section 295.5 of the code states that the Lobbyist shall be appointed by the Legislature and serve under the direction, and oversight of the Legislature's Intergovernmental Affairs Committee; and,

WHEREAS, the position of Lobbyist has not been subject to any kind of competitive selection process for several years; and,

WHEREAS, it is in the best interests of the health, welfare, and safety of the citizens of Jackson County that the Legislature undertake a competitive selection process for this important position; now therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature hereby directs the Director of Finance and Purchasing to issue a Request for Proposals, or to initiate some other appropriate competitive selection process, for the

position of Lobbyist to the Legislature.
Enacted and Approved

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
