Body
WHEREAS, by Resolution 12513, dated January 19, 1999, the Legislature did award a term and supply contract for the furnishing of inmate food service for use by the Corrections Department to ABL Management of Baton Rouge, LA, in the estimated annual amount of $880,000.00; and,

WHEREAS, that contract is due to expire on January 31, 2002; and,

WHEREAS, the Purchasing Director is currently reviewing bids received pursuant to Bid No. 128-01 for the continuation of this service, but will require additional time in which to complete this process; and,

WHEREAS, the Purchasing Director has recommended that the existing contract with ABL Management of Baton Rouge, LA, be continued for a period of 30 days, at an estimated cost of $83,000.00, to allow him sufficient time to complete his review of the new bids received and to have the matter considered by the Legislature and a new contract awarded; therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the contract be extended as recommended by the Purchasing Director, and that the Purchasing Director be, and is hereby, authorized to execute for the County any documents necessary to the accomplishment of the extension; and,

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Director of the Department of Finance is authorized to make all payments, including final payment on the contract, to the extent sufficient appropriations to the using spending agency have heretofore been made in the current Jackson County budget.
