RESOLUTION NO. 21782, October 28, 2024

INTRODUCED BY Sean E. Smith, Jeanie Lauer, Megan L. Marshall, Jalen Anderson, Donna Peyton, Manuel Abarca IV, Venessa Huskey, Charlie Franklin and DaRon McGee, County Legislators


Body
WHEREAS, in 2019 the U.S. House of Representatives passed bi-partisan legislation recognizing October 28th as National First Responders Day; and,

WHEREAS, National First Responders Day is a day to commemorate all First Responders for their bravery and heroic diligence in protecting our communities; and,

WHERAEAS, 'First Responders' broadly defines the roles of firefighters, law enforcement personnel, medical personnel and public health professionals including but not limited to firefighters, police officers, EMTs and paramedics, and dispatchers serving to take action in the face of emergencies; and,

WHEREAS, the residents of Jackson County recognize the crucial role played by First Responders in safeguarding the welfare of our county's citizens and often doing so while being understaffed, overworked and underappreciated; and,

WHEREAS, the Legislature wishes to express its respect and gratitude for the sacrifices of Jackson County First Responders and their tribute to public safety; now therefore,


BE IT RESOLVED that the Jackson County Legislature recognizes October 28, 2024 as National First Responders Day and encourages all Jackson Countians to thank a first responder today.



Enacted and Approved
Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
