A RESOLUTION expressing the intent of the Legislature that the County's share of the proceeds of the Kansas City Law Enforcement Block Grant for 2004-2006 be allocated as proposed by the City.

Body
WHEREAS, since 1997, the City of Kansas City has included funding for certain Jackson County initiatives in its Local Law Enforcement Block Grant (LLEBG), received from the United States Department of Justice Bureau of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance; and,

WHEREAS, for the 2004-2006 LLEBG term, the City anticipates a decrease in revenue, but still proposes funding of the County's Drug Court and KC Futures 150 youth crime prevention program; and,

WHEREAS, the City's proposed allocation for its 2004-2006 LLEBG is as follows:
Jackson County Drug Court $133,000.00
KC Futures 150 60,000.00
Kansas City Police Dept. 251,000.00
Other Collaborative Crime 154,207.00
Prevention Programs __________
Total $598,207.00
and,

WHEREAS, this proposed allocation is consistent with the annual LLEBG allocations dating back to at least 1997; and,

WHEREAS, the Legislature believes the City's proposed allocation is appropriated and in the best interest of the health, welfare, and safety of the citizens of Jackson County; now therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature intends that the proceeds of the City of Kansas City's LLEBG for 2004-2006 be allocated as set out in this Resolution.


Enacted and Approved
Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
