Body
WHEREAS, Aimee Bultemeier, a Lee's Summit single mother of two children, donated a kidney to save the life of someone she did not know; and,
WHEREAS, currently there are more than 1,800 Missourians and 95,000 people nationally on the waiting list for a kidney donation; and,
WHEREAS, Aimee is a nursing assistant at St. Luke's Hospital, works on the transplant floor of the Mid-America Heart Institute, and is familiar with patients waiting for a donor; and,
WHEREAS, after much praying and soul searching, Aimee believes it was meant to be for her to become one of approximately 159 anonymous kidney donors in the United States; and,
WHEREAS, Aimee underwent multiple screenings, including interviews, mental health evaluations, a background check, and medical tests, before she was approved to be a donor; and,
WHEREAS, Aimee made her kidney donation in the fall of 2011 and has spoken briefly with the kidney recipient; and,
WHEREAS, Aimee's daughters, Londyn, 6, and Lexi, 15, and her mother Kathy Hood, also of Lee's Summit, are proud of her generous act; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature hereby recognizes the selfless and life-saving donation of Aimee Bultemeier and wishes her much happiness and success in the future.
Enacted and Approved
Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
