Body
WHEREAS, by Resolution 22082, dated October 20, 2025, the Legislature did award a twelve-month term and supply contract to Blue Cross Blue Shield of Kansas City, MO for group health insurance for Jackson County associates; and,
WHEREAS, the Blue Cross Blue Shield contract will continue to provide four types of health care plans which are Preferred Provider Organization (PPO), Qualified High Deductible Health Plan (QHDHP), Exclusive Provider Organization (EPO), and Qualified High Deductible Health Plan (QHDHP w/Spira); and,
WHEREAS, Jackson County will continue to provide self-funded healthcare for all associates with the selection of Blue Cross Blue Shield for Local Administrative Services Only (ASO); and,
WHEREAS, the contract renewal rate from Blue Cross Blue Shield will increase approximately .04% across all plans, which reflects an increase to administrative fees; and,
WHEREAS, the County intends to cover the cost of this increase, which will be offset by a decrease on our dental benefits; and,
WHEREAS, pursuant to section 1054.6 of the Jackson County Code, 1984, the Interim Director of Human Resources recommends the award of a twelve-month term and supply contract for the furnishing of group health insurance as an employee benefit to Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City, MO; and,
WHEREAS, this award is made on an as needed basis and does not obligate the County to pay any specific amount, with the availability of funds subject to annual appropriation; and,
