Body
WHEREAS, the Kansas City Metropolitan Crime Commission has requested funding from the County for the High Crime Camera Pilot Project to provide the placement of eight (8) pole-mounted surveillance cameras along 24th Street from Jackson to Hardesty, at a total cost not to exceed $125,000.00; and,

WHEREAS, the primary purpose of the High Crime Camera Pilot Project is to allow the Kansas City, Missouri Police Department and the East 23rd Street PAC neighborhood to monitor illegal open-air drug activity and resultant violent crime; and,

WHEREAS, an objective of the High Crime Camera Pilot Project is to offer improvement of the quality of life for area residents through the use of the surveillance cameras to deter criminal activity; and,

WHEREAS, the primary funders for this Project are the Kansas City Metropolitan Crime Commission in the award amount of $15,000.00, Project Safe Neighborhood in the award amount of $45,000.00 and the City of Kansas City, Missouri, in the award amount of $50,000.00; and,

WHEREAS, the Kansas City Metropolitan Crime Commission has requested $15,000.00 in anti-drug sales tax matching funds to serve as part of the required local match for this program; and,

WHEREAS, the Prosecuting Attorney has recommended the expenditure of anti-drug sales tax matching funds for this program; now therefore,
