AN ORDINANCE appropriating $10,628.00 from the undesignated fund balance of the 2017 Grant Fund in acceptance of additional grant funds received from the Midwest High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area grant for use by the Jackson County Sheriff's Office and authorizing the County Executive to execute a Second Addendum to the Memorandum of Understanding with the Kansas Bureau of Investigation.

Body
WHEREAS, by Ordinance 4861, dated June 27, 2016, the Legislature did authorize the acceptance of a grant from the U.S. Office of National Drug Control Policy Midwest High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) in the amount of $58,431.00, for the period of January 1, 2016, to December 31, 2017; and,
WHEREAS, by Ordinance 4952, dated January 9, 2017, the Legislature did authorize the acceptance of additional HIDTA grant funds in the amount of $36,762.00; and,
WHEREAS, HIDTA has authorized additional grant funds in the amount of $10,628.00 to support salaries and vehicle leases in the Jackson County Sheriff's Office, through December 31, 2017; and,
WHEREAS, the attached Second Addendum to the Memorandum of Understanding with the Kansas Bureau of Investigation provides a suitable mechanism by which to implement this arrangement; and,
WHEREAS, an appropriation is necessary to place these grant funds in the appropriate spending accounts; now therefore,
BE IT ORDAINED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the following appropriation be and hereby is made from the undesignated fund balance of the 2017 Grant Fund:
