Body
WHEREAS, Ms. Kimberly Sixta, a distinguished educator at Ruskin High School in the Hickman Mills School District, has been named the 2026 Missouri Teacher of the Year by the Missouri Department of Elementary & Secondary Education; and,
WHEREAS, Ms. Kimberly Sixta has served with dedication and distinction as Chair of the Social Studies Department and as sponsor for the National Honor Society, Student Council, and the Upward Bound program, demonstrating her unwavering commitment to student leadership and academic excellence; and,
WHEREAS, she has been a tireless advocate for post-secondary education, actively informing and encouraging students to pursue scholarships and further their academic and vocational aspirations, contributing to a remarkable increase in scholarship awards for Ruskin High School seniors; and,
WHEREAS, her efforts have helped Ruskin students secure millions of dollars in scholarships annually, with over $4 million awarded last year alone, reflecting her profound impact on student success and opportunity; and,
WHEREAS, her colleagues and administrators have praised her as a uniquely gifted educator who brings "magic to the classroom," especially for students who need it most, and whose influence extends far beyond the classroom walls; and,
WHEREAS, Kimberly Sixta herself humbly stated that her greatest accomplishment lies in the students who return to say she helped them believe in themselves, exemplifying the true spirit of teaching and the legacy of a devoted educator; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED that the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri honors and commends Kim Sixta for her outstanding contributions...
