A RESOLUTION commending the Morehouse College Glee Club for its talents and achievements.

RESOLUTION #10834, May 15, 1995 INTRODUCED BY James D. Tindall, County Legislator
Body
WHEREAS, the Morehouse College Glee Club is the official singing organization of Morehouse College of Atlanta, Georgia; and,
WHEREAS, in addition to its local concerts, the club undertakes an annual spring tour with stops in
ten to fifteen cities during a two to three-week period; and,
WHEREAS, the club will give a Kansas City concert on Tuesday, May 16, 1995, at Grace and Holy Trinity Cathedral, 14th and Broadway at 7:00 p.m.; and,
WHEREAS, the club's many notable performances have included appearances before United States presidents and other dignitaries; and,
WHEREAS, the club's members do not receive academic credit, but sing as a labor of love; and,
WHEREAS, the membership comes from many parts of the United States, Africa and the Caribbean, and includes three from the Kansas City area; and,
WHEREAS, Morehouse graduates have distinguished themselves in many areas of achievement during the school's 127 year history and serve as outstanding role models; and,
WHEREAS, one notable graduate was Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.; and,
WHEREAS, the Glee Club is directed by David Morrow, a 1980 Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Morehouse College; therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature commends the Morehouse College Glee Club for its talents and achievements.
Attorney Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of he Legislature.
