Body
WHEREAS, the City of Kansas City, Missouri, has received a grant from the U. S. Department of Justice in the amount of $2,586,958.00, for the City's "Local Law Enforcement Block Grants Program," a program which will provide law enforcement and crime prevention programs including in-school services such as assessment and counseling, and additional services for the Jackson County Drug Court Program; and,

WHEREAS, this grant is subject to a local match in the amount of $287,440.00; and,

WHEREAS, the City proposes to provide part of the required local match with funds from the Kansas City, Missouri School District and the City's own funds in the aggregate amount of $167,440.00; and,

WHEREAS, the City of Kansas City has requested County Anti-Drug Sales Tax matching funds in the amount of $100,000.00 to provide the remainder of the local match necessary to implement this program; and,

WHEREAS, this is the first year for this grant program; and,

WHEREAS, the Prosecuting Attorney has reviewed this proposal and recommends the expenditure of these funds; therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the County Executive is hereby authorized to enter into the agreement, a copy of which is attached and incorporated herein by reference, with the City of Kansas City; and,

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Director of the Department of Finance be and hereby is authorized to make all payments, including final payment on the Agreement.
