Body
WHEREAS, L.I.N.K. is a unique program providing scholarships for students graduating from Truman and William Chrisman High Schools; and,
WHEREAS, this student-led program was initiated not only to raise funds to provide scholarships to graduates from these high schools, but to foster an atmosphere of cooperation between these two schools; and,
WHEREAS, since its inception in the spring of 1997, students have been working toward their 10-year goal of accumulating a total of $150,000; and,
WHEREAS, L.I.N.K.'s first two scholarships were awarded in the spring of 1998 and its goal for 1999 is to award four; and,
WHEREAS, scholarships to students are based on academic performance, need, and extracurricular involvement; and,
WHEREAS, on Monday, July 12, a fun day of golf is planned to raise funds for this worthwhile endeavor; and,
WHEREAS, the students of Truman and William Chrisman High Schools should be highly commended for undertaking such a worthwhile task, and for joining together in this cooperative endeavor; therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature congratulates the students of Truman and William Chrisman High Schools for its success with the L.I.N.K. program and for their outstanding and selfless efforts in raising funds for worthy recipients of its scholarship proceeds.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
