Body
WHEREAS, the Afrikan Centered Education Collegium Campus (ACECC) Mighty Marching Pharaoh Band made its debut performance at the Kansas City American Royal Parade in September 2009, and has since grown rapidly in membership to become the pride of the Afrikan Centered Education (ACE) campus and community; and,
WHEREAS, the Mighty Marching Pharaoh Band includes more than 100 students, grades 7 through 12, who completed intensive leadership training learning and living the motto, "I am Discipline, Dedication, Determination, Motivation, Responsibility! Marching Pharaohs, Black and Gold, that's me!"; and,
WHEREAS, the Mighty Marching Pharaoh Band has performed at numerous school and community functions including the Research Park Medical Center Block Party/Health Fair, American Royal Parade, South Suburban Jr. Football Association Halftime Show, and many others; and,
WHEREAS, the Mighty Marching Pharaoh Band earned first place in the 2010 St. Patrick's Day Parade and first place in the 2010 Planet Rock Drumline and Marching Band competition with extraordinary performances; and,
WHEREAS, the Mighty Marching Pharaoh Band ensembles include two concert bands, a marching band, pep band, jazz band, a woodwind ensemble and a brass ensemble; and,
WHEREAS, the Mighty Marching Pharaoh Band is led by Director, Ms. Dawn "Mightymouse" Bowles, who has traveled the United States building and reviving band programs; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature congratulates the Mighty Marching Pharaoh Band on their exceptional inaugural year at the Afrikan Centered Education Collegium Campus...
