Body
WHEREAS, an unintended liability was found to exist in section 727., Jackson County Code, 1984 with regards to insurance for vested former employees; and,


WHEREAS, repeal of section 727. is now appropriate; now therefore,


BE IT ORDAINED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri as follows:



Section A. Enacting Clause. Section 727., Jackson County Code, 1984, is hereby repealed, to read as follows:
[727. Health Insurance, Former Employees.
In the event that the county shall contract for group health insurance for the benefit of any county officers or employees, any such group health insurance contract shall provide for coverage eligibility for any former county employee who is vested in the county employee pension plan established under chapter 15 of this code and who is actually receiving pension benefits under the plan, at the former employee's own expense, until such time as the former employee is eligible for health insurance coverage under the United States Department of Health and Human Services Medicare program.]

Effective Date: This Ordinance shall be effective immediately upon signature by the County Executive.
