Body
WHEREAS, the Missouri Association of Secondary School Principals (MASSP) and MetLife recently named Stan Elliott Principal of the Year, from among more than 500 high school principals in Missouri; and,

WHEREAS, according to a press release from MASSP, Mr. Elliot was chosen because of the "impact he makes on students and staff;" and,

WHEREAS, a student testimonial provided by MASSP focused on Mr. Elliott's dedication to improving Lee's Summit North and his interest in the students: "He listens to the students and teachers equally, while giving them his undivided attention;" and,

WHEREAS, last spring Mr. Elliott was named Principal of the Year by the Greater Kansas City Missouri Principals' Association; and,

WHEREAS, Mr. Elliott was named North's first principal in 1994, encountering the special responsibilities of dealing with construction issues, opening the new school, and transferring or hiring new teachers; and,

WHEREAS, he and his staff were responsible for getting the new building ready for the 1,030 students who attended North that first year, and managing growth has remained a part of his job; and,

WHEREAS, under Mr. Elliott's leadership, Lee's Summit North has expanded its at-risk program, developed a senior mentoring program, and started an "academic alert" form to let counselors know if a student is struggling; and,

WHEREAS, he has overseen the creation of the Stop Anger From Endangering Today's Youth counseling program and was also involved in the district's International Baccalaureate program, which gives high school students a chance to enroll in freshman and sophomore college courses during their last year...
