Body
WHEREAS, the Prosecuting Attorney's Office has been awarded a Gun Prosecution Grant by the U.S. Department of Justice's Office of Justice Programs; and,
WHEREAS, this grant recognizes the established nexus between crimes of violence and drug-related crimes; and,
WHEREAS, the Prosecuting Attorney has recommended that this grant be extended from November 1, 2005 through December 31, 2006; and,
WHEREAS, this grant extension will allow the office to increase the prosecution of violent firearms-related crimes and will provide $6,667.00 towards the salary and benefits of one assistant prosecutor for the months of November and December 2005; and,
WHEREAS, a match of $5,327.00 is required for this extension; and,
WHEREAS, a transfer and appropriation are necessary in order to place the grant and matching funds in the proper spending accounts; and,
WHEREAS, the County Executive recommends said transfer and appropriation; now therefore,
BE IT ORDAINED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the following transfer within the 2005 General Fund and appropriation from the unappropriated surplus of the 2005 Anti-Drug Sales Tax Fund be and are hereby made:
