Body
WHEREAS, Lee Mason, son of Ron and Ruth Mason and brother to Tom, is a 2007 graduate of Lee's Summit North High School and has earned the designation as a National Merit Scholarship finalist and a semifinalist for the United States Presidential Scholars Program; and,

WHEREAS, the National Merit Scholarship Corporation program recognizes academic excellence through the administration of the SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test and will award nearly $33 million dollars in scholarships to approximately 8,000 finalists throughout the United States; and,

WHEREAS, the United States Presidential Scholars program selectees are chosen on the basis of their academic accomplishments, artistic success, and leadership and involvement in school and the community; and,

WHEREAS, Lee earned the designation of Valedictorian for the 2007 class of Lee's Summit North High School as well as recognition as an International Baccalaureate Diploma candidate, National Merit Scholar, Missouri 100 Scholar, and Presidential Scholar Semifinalist; and,

WHEREAS, Lee participated in a variety of school activities including the Science Knowledge Bowl, Spanish Club, president of National Honor Society, president of Math Club, Varsity Scholar Team Captain, and President Pro-Tem of the Missouri Youth in Government State Senate; and,

WHEREAS, Lee volunteers as a tutor at his former elementary school and interviews World War II and Korean War veterans as part of the Lee's Summit Senior Center Veterans' History Project; and,

WHEREAS, Lee will attend Northwestern University in Evanston, IL, and plans to major in chemistry or physics; n...
